Serves as a frontline fundraiser for the College of Engineering and Computing. Identifies, expands and cultivates relationships with prospective and existing donors, in order to successfully close gifts and continue the development of the relationship of the University. • Develops, plans and implements strategies to secure gift funding of $50,000 and above from individuals, corporations, and foundations in support of the fund-raising priorities of the University and the College of Engineering and Computing. Lead the College's sustainable infrastructure and energy and environment portfolios, health-related technologies. These strategic areas include civil and environmental engineering; construction management; and bio-medical engineering. Directs all fund-raising activities relative to the college. Initiates, plans, and coordinates the development of donor cultivation, development of proposals and solicitations of gifts and grants at the major and principal gift level. • Solicits support from previous and potential donors to the University. Meets with potential donors on campus and in the community. Travels locally, regionally and nationally, when required to meet with prospective donors. Attends meetings, gatherings or University-sponsored events. Operates a motor vehicle in the performance of these duties. • Together with academic and development leaders and colleagues in the College, develops and implements a strategic work plan that focuses on the internal and external objectives of University Advancement and the College. • Responsible for stewardship and oversight of gifts and grants within the assigned unit. Ensures the awarding of scholarship funds established by charitable donations in the assigned unit and for stewarding scholarship gifts within the unit. • Participates in university-wide prospect management, cultivation and stewardship of donors and prospects. • Develops and assists with the approval of fund-raising publications and publicity materials for all fund-raising programs in the College and recommends to the Dean/Department Head for final approval. Works with External Relations in developing materials. • Assists in development and coordination of efforts associated with volunteer industry advisory board programs in the assigned college or unit. Supports industry relations efforts. • Organizes, promotes and maintains collaborative working relationships with key faculty, leadership, staff and volunteers in support of FIU. Works with development specialists in several areas, as well as with other college and unit development officers, deans, directors and the Advancement Services area. • Handles donated funds in the forms of checks or negotiable securities as needed. Accesses confidential information regarding gifts and donors. Maintains high degree of confidentiality of prospect and donor records. • Represents the University and the College at public functions as needed. Minimum qualifications: Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and six years of experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and eight years of experience.
