Market Director

DESCRIPTION
The American Diabetes Association has an exciting opportunity for the position of Market Director for Miami Florida.

The successful candidate will bring knowledge of the market, with a special emphasis in the Miami area, possess the ability to expand ADA's sphere of influence and have demonstrated success in: staff development and leadership; volunteer recruitment and development; strategic planning; special event fund raising; program development; individual giving and stewardship; and corporate development. This is primarily a fundraising position with the main responsibilities focused on revenue generation to support the mission of the American Diabetes Association.

The Market Director will be home based out of Miami, and will oversee and provide staff oversight for ADA's operations in Miami, including the management of staff and volunteers and the development and execution of community-based fundraising and service programs.

The Market Director will report to the Area Executive Director overseeing Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
* Develop and manage an annual budget of approximately $650,000
* Recruit and engage local community and corporate volunteer leaders to serve on the Miami Board and Chair signature fundraising events
* Achieve annual fund raising goals
* Direct supervision of two person home based staff team based in the Miami area.
* Achieve annual fund raising goals
* Personally responsible for management and fundraising of Father of the Year Signature fundraising event
* Develop and manage mission based community programs
* Raise awareness of diabetes and the mission of ADA
* Provide staff leadership in the development and management of a Community Leadership Board I would leave this in the description.
* Proven donor cultivation and solicitation experience and persuasive presentation skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree required (Master's and/or business degree a plus)
* 5-7 years of progressive experience in similar non-profit organizations
* Proven track record of ability to meet revenue objectives
* Ability to hire, manage and lead a diverse staff
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge of the corporate environment and understanding of the Miami market
* Ability to align local programs with the American Diabetes Association's Strategic Plan
* Ability to cultivate and nurture community coalitions
* Both hands-on and oversight experience in conducting special events and individual giving campaigns
* Knowledge of online fundraising through use of Convio, Kintera, Raisers Edge, or comparable programs
* Ability to work occasional nights & weekends
* Outstanding staff and volunteer leadership skills
* Extensive experience in donor stewardship, program delivery, and volunteer recruitment
