REPORTS TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Vice President/Chief Development Officer will be the Jackson Health Foundation’s chief fundraising strategist and will play a leading role in bringing the Foundation and it’s fundraising to new heights. The Jackson Health Foundation raises funds on behalf of Jackson Health System, the leading health care provider in South Florida and home to a world-class transplant program, trauma center and Holtz Children’s Hospital.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and senior staff, the Chief Development Officer will create, lead and implement a comprehensive fundraising program that includes major gifts, annual fund and grateful patient programs, planned giving, foundation and corporate relations. The Chief Development Officer will:
Develop and implement a five-year strategic development plan that includes comprehensive growth in major gifts and planned giving;
Oversee the management of a new and growing development team, providing them with an annual operating plan that includes significant goals and measurable objectives;
Review and recalibrate the Foundation’s events to maximize fundraising and increase the Foundation’s presence in the community;
Attract community leadership to build individual, foundation and corporate support for a major academic medical system;
Strengthen the Foundation’s major gift and principal gift fundraising strategies, in particular by implementing a grateful patient fundraising program;
Forge more effective and productive relationships with Jackson Health System leadership and medical staff;
Working with the Chief Executive Officer, increase the involvement and leadership of the Foundation’s Board in the fundraising process;
Effectively engage prospective donors and communicate about Jackson Health System and raise funds for the priority projects of the Foundation and Jackson Health System.
Focus the Foundation’s fundraising on major and principal gifts; manage a personal prospect pool of 100 to 150 principal, leadership and major gift prospects and donors through active cultivation and solicitation;
Be an inspiring team leader, supportive mentor, a good colleague and create a phenomenal fundraising engine for an important institution serving all of the residents of our community.
Demonstrated ability to build long-term relationships, secure six and seven gifts and provide effective leadership to the Foundation’s fundraising team.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred, minimum 10 years of major gift fundraising experience and a minimum of five years of senior management experience in a nonprofit setting (a hospital and/or academic medical center setting is preferred but not required). Raiser’s Edge software including fundraising and relationship management components, generating reports, record keeping, etc.
REQUIRED SKILLS: The successful candidate will have strong and effective organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Professional certification (CFRE) preferred. Bilingual Spanish / English desirable.
