The Director of Development identifies individual major gift prospects using research, volunteers, physicians and other staff members. They develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for each individual and assists with projects, events and programs. The individual is responsible for meeting monthly and yearly metrics with respect to prospect and donor visits, solicitations and dollars raised. The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director of Development and works collaboratively with other members of the philanthropy team.
- Bachelor’s degree; an advanced degree and/or 5 or more years of experience in sales, marketing or related field may offset total years of experience. Knowledge of planned giving vehicles preferred.
- Minimum five years of experience in fund-raising, direct solicitations, stewardship, annual and phone campaigns and a capital campaign environment
- Must have demonstrated success and experience in major gifts fund-raising strategies for cultivation and direct solicitation
- Requires strong communication skills, critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relations with corporate executives, donors and staff physicians. Must be able to work well in a collaborative environment as a team player.
