Our client, a premier non-profit philanthropic organization, has an immediate career opportunity available for a senior level development professional. The Executive Director - Development is a newly created leadership position that reports directly to the organization's Chief Philanthropy Officer. This key position will be an active member of the organization's senior leadership team and will have responsibility for building and leading a new, comprehensive development program for the Broward County Region.
The Executive Director - Development/Broward County (EDDB) will provide leadership for its advancement programs, campaigns and special events in the Broward County region. This position will supervise existing foundation support staff and implement all programs and services provided by the organization. The successful candidate will be expected to possess extensive business contacts and ongoing relationships within the Broward community. The EDDB will become, and must be comfortable being seen as, the "face and voice" of the organization throughout the county and must already possess the strong personal brand, broad-based community recognition and a history of leadership in the community in order to support this status.
Key Position Objectives
In addition to the ongoing job responsibilities of this role, the following are key initiatives or objectives to be accomplished through year-end 2016.
¨ Gain a deep understanding of the organization, it's leadership, structure, mission, programs and services.
¨ Create a Brand name and image for the regional organization and aggressively promote it to gain increasing levels market awareness and engagement within the Broward community.
¨ Create and implement a comprehensive strategic development plan.
¨ Establish and engage a new Regional Advisory Board comprised of influential business and community leaders to help provide guidance, support, market knowledge and connections.
The EDDB position requires at least 7 to 10 years of relevant, increasingly responsible experience in a major non-profit organization. This will include at least 3+ years of proven success in leading a multi-program development function and forging and managing lasting relationships with multiple donor sources. Prior experience in the start-up and building of a high performance development function is preferred. Excellent communication, listening and presentation skills, and the ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and other internal/external stakeholders. A Bachelor’s Degree is required; an MBA or equivalent advanced degree in a related field is preferred, as is CFRE certification.
